Bindery – log shuttle, compensating stackers, blocking units, palletizing

Bindery – stream feeder loading, bindery stackers & blocking units, bundle handling, robots

Efficient automation behind saddle stitchers, perfect binders, inserters,…

Although modern bookbinding lines are highly automated for their core function, the processes that occur before and after saddle stitchers or perfect binders are often manual or semi-automated. We help bookbinders automate these processes and reduce costs with our specific stacking and palletizing solutions.

Log Shuttle:  automatic loading of logs onto stream feeders
Bindery stackers: entry level model RS 11, RS 10 standard & high-speed model for saddle stitchers, RS 33S standard & high-speed model for perfect binders
Blocking unit:  mechanical compression and electrostatic blocking
Bundle handling: accumulation conveyors, dividers, turntables, bundle turning,..
Palletizing: robots for 1 or 2 lines complete with pallet conveying, space-efficient mini-robot ERIC (optional as cobot)
Options: Together with our certified partners we integrate strapping, banding, film wrapping and other solutions.

As a solution provider with a strong technical background, supported by the MERTEN Group and RIMA, we have the resources and experience necessary to develop and implement customized solutions successfully.

Log Shuttle – automatic loading of logs onto stream feeders

Loading high-speed bindery lines with logs is usually semi-automated and labor-intensive. The Log Shuttle automates this process, making it simple and safe. This leads to significant savings, especially on high-speed saddle-stitchers and perfect binders with a short log feeding cycle, such as for products with high page counts and/or thick paper.

Bindery stackers & blocking unit – RS 10 | RS 11 | RS 33 & BU/20

For over 40 years, RIMA has successfully manufactured compensating stackers for bindery and pressroom. After moving production to Georgia, RIMA Atlanta has focused on packaging and bindery stackers, such as the RS 10, RS 11, and RS 33, which are used in bookbinderies around the world. These stackers range from entry-level to high-end and are the standard stacking solution for most saddle stitchers and perfect binders.

Palettizing with ERIC – as mini-robot or as cobot

ERIC – mini-robot for stitched and perfect bound bundles

The ERIC mini-robot is ideal for smart, low-speed palletizing applications where high-end robots are usually too expensive or space-consuming. ERIC is an efficient solution for smaller bookbinding lines and behind boxing lines. ERIC impresses with its speed, reach, and payload capacity, which are all typical requirements of our industry. ERIC is space-efficient, mobile and can be used as a collaborative robot (cobot). ERIC is based on proven industrial robot technology, ensuring high reliability and minimal downtime.

Technical data: up to 400 bundles/h or 400 cartons(boxes)/h, product size for loose/strapped/wrapped products: appr. A4 (optional A5 to A3), product size cartons: min 200x200 mm to max 600x400 mm, one infeed line, mechanical gripper for bundles, suction gripper for closed cartons and boxes, palletizing onto one or two pallets, with safety fence

Options: moveable on casters, slip sheets, customizable layouts, can operate as a COBOT (lower performance)
